Writer Rebel Dreamer

I’ve always been a maverick, wildly creative, an inveterate rebel, and a relentless dreamer.
Born into an anarchical pagan family who’ve been that way since the year dot it’d be hard to be anything else. It makes for a very un-normal way of looking at Life, the Universe and Everything.

What’s a maverick? Sam Maverick was a Texas landowner who refused to brand his cattle, went against tradition and convention, did the unthinkable.
And that’s me, I’m unconventional, independent, nonconformist, and utterly allergic to boxes. They bring me out in freakish spasms. My best version of that was long ago, while at Uni. I neared the top of Tottenham Court Toad tube escalator and deliberately dropped a penny on the metal balustrade. It bounced and clanged all the way to the bottom. I bent over and cried out “Oh! Me glass eye! Me glass eye!” Some folk stared. Some folk pretended nothing had happened. Some thought about being concerned but gave up on the idea LOL. The gang of Uni students I hung out with did pranks like that all the time. I’ve not repeated it for a good few years now. Hmm … next time I go to London … ???

But that’s me. Think out of the box.

It really works as an author too. That’s how my feisty female protagonists work. They don’t take “No” for an answer, and never follow the rules. If this path is blocked by a fallen tree how many ways round it are there? They want – need – partners who are that way too. Nobody else could keep up.
Like me, their journey through the stories is learning the art of being authentic, nurturing their skills while navigating the practical demands of living in our often humdrum world.

I love writing these stories, and I live them as I write – exhausting but the thrill is so lit.
