The Sanctuary

Not what you might have been thinking …

What Is this Place?

An ancient Tump ~

A lump of old red sandstone
shot through with veins of pure quartz
that in it’s turn i s threaded with bright black tourmaline

The Mother’s colours … Red … White … Black
Red for everything that ever will and may and can be
White for everything that is
Black for everything that ever has been

The tump has been here since the world began
When humans came first came there, they listened
And the tump spoke to them
I am here …

The humans heard, they stayed, they listened, and they learned …

The Oldest Stone

the trees came, grew upon the tump
the deer came, nestled in the shade
the people came, gifted a marker-stone
carved with the head of the Piper at the Gates of Dawn

The Piper

At the Gates of Dawn

Lord of the Forest
Guardian of the Animals

Pan is a wild One.
None can ever tame him … though some fools have tried.
He is the Lord of the wild, preserver of those who follow the wild herds and flocks to live with them in understanding, and learn from them.
Some fools call him a maker of mischief but he is not that.
He is a teacher for them as will listen, and hear him without translating,
Those who will ask him to help them know him in their bones.
He is a Protector of all Wild Ones
His Pipes he made from reeds after a love affair with the nymph Syrinx.
His music delights the Land and all its creatures.
Or haunt and terrify those who want to use the land and the creatures for their own gain.
His shepherd’s crook may support the weak or injured
Or give speed and power to his spears and barbs.
He will support Hunters as long as they take only for food and never for profit,.
And they are willing to share with their fellow Predators of the Land …
the wolf, the fox, the falcon and the fish.
If you are not willing, indeed eager, to share do not try to hunt in his forests.
